Lesson 3 of 4 in [MemberPress AI — Working with Opal](https://academy.memberpress.ai/courses/memberpress-ai/), 4 min.

Setting up a membership site by hand means a lot of screens: plans, prices, billing periods, which content each plan can see, the welcome email. With Opal, you describe what you want in a sentence or two and she does the setup.

**Setting up your memberships**

Opal asks a handful of quick questions:

- What are you selling or teaching, and who is it for?
- What format is your content: videos, written lessons, a community, live calls?
- Roughly what would you like to charge each month?
- How many levels do you want to start with, or should she suggest some?
- Have you connected a payment processor yet?

From your answers she puts a plan on one screen: your membership levels with their names, prices and billing periods, which content each level can see, and a starter set of emails, such as a welcome and a note for a failed payment.

Then it's your call. **Accept** it and she builds it step by step. Ask for a change, like "make the second level cheaper", and she redoes the plan. Or save it as a draft and come back later.

**Smaller jobs work the same way**

Ask her to turn a slide deck into a course outline, draft a community post from something you talked about, or set up a coupon. A community post only goes out when you click **Post it**.

**The common mistakes**

- Answering in one or two words, then finding the plan generic. One more sentence, like "busy nurses who study on their lunch break", changes a lot.
- Taking a plan that's almost right. Ask for the change; that's what the button is for.
