Multi-Agent Essay Production
A relay essay pipeline — outline agent, draft agent, editor agent, fact-check agent. Each one hands off a structured artifact and stops at its own boundary.
Overview
Use multiple AI agents to research, outline, draft, and edit an essay. A complete workflow drawn from the Great Authors plugin cookbook.
What You'll Build
An essay produced by a pipeline of specialized personas:
- Research Agent gathers sources and facts
- Outline Agent structures the argument
- Draft Agent writes the first version
- Editor Agent refines and polishes
Ingredients
- 1 Research Agent (Great Researchers persona)
- 1 Outline Agent (McPhee persona)
- 1 Draft Agent (Great Authors persona)
- 1 Editor Agent (Gottlieb persona)
- A topic you care about
Steps
Step 1 — Research
Invoke the researcher persona with your topic. Ask for:
- Key sources and citations
- Counter-arguments to address
- Historical context
Step 2 — Outline
Feed the research to the outline agent. Request:
- A narrative arc
- Section-by-section argument flow
- Where evidence belongs
Step 3 — Draft
Dispatch the draft agent with the outline. Provide:
- Voice constraints (channel Didion, Baldwin, etc.)
- Length target
- Audience description
Step 4 — Edit
Run the editor persona over the draft. Ask for:
- Structural tightening
- Voice consistency
- Fact-checking against research
Step 5 — Ship
Export the final essay to your publication pipeline (Jekyll, Medium, etc.).
When to Use
- Long-form essays that require research + voice
- Blog posts where accuracy matters
- Argumentative pieces that need tight structure
- Any writing task where one pass isn't enough
